For sale is a 1988 BMW E30 M3 in Alpine White shell.A full restoration is needed, but additional parts are available.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

At this point... isn't it just another E30? Can someone school me?

Depends upon the VIN. It does have the rear flares at least.

Clean title and it's got the bump in the back for the wide tires so I guess technically it's an M3.

In slightly better condition than the free M3 from the best of craigslist awhile back.

Someone will buy it.

It depends. If an M3 is identified by an option code in the VIN or on the manufacturer's plate then it would make a theoretical difference if it were to be fully restored. It would then be seen as an "authentic" M3 instead of a clone. In other words it makes a difference in the world of collector cars.

That is an M3. M3 vin, fender flares, trunk, interior(depending on parts) and, most importantly, a slightly different C pillar.

I feel like every E30 that wasn't a convertible had a sunroof. It's unbelievable how many I'm finding that have a view of the sky from inside.

Well if it was sold as an m3 from the factory, it's still an m3. It's all about the vin and or title

Reminds me of the Monty Python Dead Parrot sketch

Yes technically this is an M3, but it's kind of dead...

The plus side is from this perspective you can quickly tell if the 18 year old that owned it a few years ago when it was dirt cheap slid it into a telephone pole or not.
